Prep Wrestling: Capital City places eighth at Versailles Tournament

VERSAILLES - The Capital City Cavaliers took eighth place out of 14 teams Saturday in the Versailles Tournament.

The Cavaliers finished with 65 points, recording five top-three finishes. Versailles won the team title with 154 points.

Sterling Wheatley finished 4-1 to finish second at 113 pounds, recording three wins by fall.

Hurley Jacobs Jr. also took second for the Cavaliers at 182. He won his first three matches by fall before losing by fall to Versailles' Gage Tessier, snapping Jacobs Jr.'s streak of 16 consecutive wins to start the season.

Placing third for Capital City were Eli Schuemann at 120, Keaton Schrage at 138 and Bahshi Traylor Jr. at 170.

Schrage finished 4-1, recording two wins by fall, while Traylor Jr. was 3-1, recording pins in each of his wins. Schuemann also won by fall in both of his wins, finishing 2-2.

Greg Porting was fifth at 285 with a 3-1 record and three pins, while Jabbari Hubbard at 152 and Ian Nelson at 195 each came in seventh place. Nelson was 2-3 with two pins and Hubbard was 1-4.

Lorenzo Gillom placed eighth at 160 with an 0-4 record.

Capital City wrestles Wednesday in a quad-dual against St. Clark, Owensville and Union at St. Clair.
