Jays get past Lincoln Prep in OT

BLUE SPRINGS - The Jefferson City Jays are making a habit of game-winning shots.

Down 68-66 in overtime Friday, Brennan Jeffries bounced a pass to Kaidyn Johnson, who dribbled and stepped to his right to create space and drained a 3-pointer from the left wing at the buzzer for a 69-68 win against Lincoln College Prep.

The win sends the Jays to the fifth-place game in the Blue Springs Tournament. Jefferson City and Bentonville (Ark.) will tip off at about 2:30 p.m. today.

It was the second time this week the Jays rallied from a second-half deficit to win.

Jeffries converted a three-point play with :03.3 left Wednesday to defeat Battle 52-49 at Fleming Fieldhouse.

Jefferson City trailed by as many as 16 in the second half Friday, but Keith Driver tied the game at 50 on a layup with 6:33 left.

Lincoln Prep led 15-11 at the end of the first quarter, 37-27 at halftime and 50-43 entering the fourth quarter. The game was tied at 60 after regulation.

Jeffries scored 18 points to lead the Jays (3-2), while Johnson and Sterling DeSha scored 13 points each. Ben Folz added nine points and Brenden Hoener contributed eight points.
