EUGENE -The St. Elizabeth Lady Hornets defeated the Linn Lady Wildcats 32-28 in the opening round of the Eugene Tournament on Monday night.
St. Elizabeth, the No. 4 seed, led 8-6 after one quarter and took a 19-10 advantage into halftime. Linn, the No. 5 seed, rallied to trail 21-17 going to the fourth quarter.
Maddie Wilde, Audrey Struemph and Mara Struemph each scored a game-high eight points for the Lady Hornets.
Claire Baker, Lindsey Brandt and Jessica Keilholz all had six points for Linn (1-1), which will face Calvary Lutheran in a loser's bracket game at 8 p.m. Wednesday. The Lady Lions, the No. 7 seed, lost 61-14 to the Fatima Lady Comets in Monday's other first-round game.
St. Elizabeth (2-0) will take on top-seeded Fatima in a winner's bracket contest at 5 p.m. Thursday.
