Prep Baseball: Vienna reaches title game

NEW BLOOMFIELD - The Vienna Eagles finished 2-0 in pool play of the Calvary Lutheran/New Bloomfield Tournament on Friday, defeating the Belle Tigers 11-0 in five innings and the New Bloomfield Wildcats 11-1 in six innings.

Trenton Rowden finished with three hits and four RBI to lead Vienna against Belle. Dylan Buschmann had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored, while Spencer Wieberg finished with two hits.

McCrae Fuller won his fourth game of the season. In four innings, he allowed just one hit while striking out seven. Buschmann struck out two batters in the fifth inning.

In the Eagles' second game against New Bloomfield, Fuller had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored. Wieberg added two hits and Nathan Kleffner scored two runs.

Buschmann pitched five innings to earn the win against the Wildcats, allowing three hits and striking out nine batters. Kleffner pitched the sixth inning, finishing with one strikeout.

Vienna (12-4), ranked No. 7 in Class 2, will play Class 1 No. 4 St. Elizabeth (7-1) in the championship game at 2 p.m. today at Calvary Lutheran. In their previous meeting March 25, St. Elizabeth defeated Vienna 3-1.
