Lincoln men fall to Maryville in Classic finale

ST. LOUIS - The Lincoln Blue Tigers finished 0-2 in the Maryville Thanksgiving Classic, wrapping up play Wednesday with an 82-55 loss to Maryville.

Maryville never trailed in the game, jumping out to a 15-2 lead in the first seven minutes on its way to a 40-25 advantage at the half. Lincoln got as close as eight points at 32-24 late in the half with an 8-2 run capped by a 3-pointer from Mekhi Kimble.

Maryville led by as many as 31 points in the second half.

Daniel Farris led four Maryville (5-1) players in double figures with 17 points. Donovan Parker added 13, while Cameron Sales and Kelvin Swims totaled 10 points each.

Maryville finished 2-0 in the Classic, defeating East-West University of Chicago 100-57 on Tuesday.

Kimble led three Blue Tigers in double figures with 14 points. Ni'Sean Rigmaiden came off the bench to add 11, while John Gaines scored 10 points in a reserve role.

The Blue Tigers opened play Tuesday in the Classic with an 80-72 loss to UMSL.

Lincoln (0-4) is back in action Tuesday at home against Central Christian from McPherson, Kan. Game time is 7 p.m. at Jason Gym.
