College Softball: Central Methodist's Love wins 21st game

FAYETTE - Central Methodist senior pitcher Madison Love tossed a six-hit shutout Tuesday, leading the Eagles to an 8-0 win against MidAmerica Nazarene.

Love (New Bloomfield High School) walked three and struck out three, improving her season record to 21-3 as Central Methodist's No. 2 pitcher. Keighlan Cronin, the Eagles' ace, has a 22-2 record.

At the plate, Love finished with a single, an RBI and a run scored.

In 24 appearances in the pitcher's circle, Love has a 1.67 ERA with 11 shutouts. She has struck out 137 batters in 147 innings pitched.

Offensively, Love is hitting .365 (31-for-85) with four home runs, six doubles, 24 RBI and 21 runs scored.

Freshman first baseman Kaitlyn Kolb (Blair Oaks High School) has appeared in 27 games for the Eagles, hitting .280 (21-for-75) with nine doubles, 11 RBI and nine runs scored.

Central Methodist (44-5), ranked No. 5 in the NAIA, hosts Evangel on Saturday.
