MIAA cancels spring sports season

The spring sports season is finished for Lincoln University.

The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced Tuesday the MIAA CEO Council voted unanimously to cancel all remaining regular-season games during the 2020 spring sports season. This also includes the MIAA championships.

Lincoln participates in track and field, golf and softball in the spring sports season.

The MIAA also announced the decision to suspend practices for out-of-season sports remains in effect.

"The health and well-being of MIAA student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and our communities continues to be the Association's top priority," the MIAA said in a press release. "The MIAA is taking these unprecedented actions to help our campuses and communities continue to address this public health crisis."

The NCAA announced last week it had canceled national championships for 2020 spring sports.
