Renegades surrender eight unanswered runs, lose 11-8 to A's

CLARINDA, Iowa - The Jefferson City Renegades couldn't hold off the Clarinda A's on Sunday night, giving up eight runs in the final three innings in an 11-8 loss in MINK League action.

The Renegades scored twice in the top of the first before the A's scored single runs in the third and fourth to tie it at 2.

Jefferson City then scored twice in the fifth and four times in the sixth to take an 8-3 lead into the bottom of the sixth. Clarinda then cut the deficit to 8-6 with three runs in the sixth, added one more in the seventh before plating four in the eighth to take the win.

Paul Haupt and Logan Haring had two hits each in a 10-hit Renegade attack. Haring drove in two runs on a first-inning home run, his third of the season.

The A's hit three home runs in the game.

Manny Martinez got the start for the Renegades, pitching the first five innings. He allowed three runs, all earned, on seven hits and four walks while striking out nine.

Deejay Seelbach got two outs in the sixth, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits and a walk. He struck out one. Colton Hoelscher pitched the seventh, allowing a run on one hit while recording a pair of strikeouts.

Shane Fontenot took the loss in relief. He pitched the final 11/3 innings, allowing four runs (none earned) on three hits and a walk. He struck out two.

The Renegades committed three errors in the loss.

The Renegades (12-9 overall, 9-9 MINK) are back in action at 7 p.m. against the A's (9-14, 7-14) in the middle game of a three-game series in Clarinda.
