Lincoln beats Hannibal-LaGrange in women's game

The Lincoln women's basketball team ended a five-game losing streak Saturday, beating Hannibal-LaGrange 84-45 at Jason Gym.

Lincoln led 15-11 after the first quarter, then proceeded to score 23 points in each of the next three quarters.

The Blue Tigers led 17-16 early in the second quarter, then used a 14-2 run to push their lead to double digits at 31-18. Lincloln led by 10 or more points the rest of the game.

Lincoln led 38-22 at halftime, then stretched its lead to 61-45 through three quarters. The final margin of 39 was the Blue Tigers' largest lead of the game.

The Blue Tigers shot 70 percent from the floor in the second half and finished the game at 54.4 percent. The defense forced 24 turnovers, including 14 steals.

Virja Lewis scored a game-high 14 points for Lincoln, while Kaloni Pryear and Vivian Chigbu each had 12 points. Kiara Shoulders also reached double figures with 10 points.

Shoulders and Alecia Gulledge each grabbed seven rebounds and Kyessence Collins had five assists. Gulledge and Nia McCaskill each added three steals win the win.

Rhiannon Runyon scored nine points to lead Hannibal-LaGrange (2-8), which counted Saturday's game as an exhibition.

Lincoln (2-7) continues non-conference play at 1 p.m. Thursday at home against Eureka.
