Dear Editor:
I am writing this letter on the eve of St. Patrick's Day. I am reading about Irish bars in New York City that can't find Irish bartenders. Immigration is restricted.
How to solve this problem? Admit Ireland into the union. There are provisions in the U.S. Constitution for admitting more states.
The U.S. already has states and territories thousands of miles away. How could another one hurt?
Irish immigrants to the U.S. have assimilated fairly well. Most seem to be good citizens.
Imagine how big St. Patrick's Day celebrations could become.
