Your Opinion: Where does buck stop with Jan. 6 probe?

Dear Editor:

Say what you will about Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi but you cannot deny she is a master politician. This committee she is putting together to investigate the Jan. 6 so-called "insurrection" is pure genius on her part.

Although not in charge of the day-to-day running of the police, who is ultimately in charge of the Capitol Police? That would be the speaker of the House of Representatives. Who is picking the members to be on the investigative committee? That would be the speaker of the House.

There is evidence that could be and should be brought forward. Questions asked about why several reports/intelligence from different agencies saying there could be possible trouble during or after the Trump rally on Jan. 6 and why were they not acted upon but ignored. Just where does the buck stop? At the Office of the Speaker of the House in my opinion.

Riddle me this: What better way to discredit the bad orange man and Republicans than to ignore these warnings and hope that something does happen? What better way to protect yourself from any "hard" questions than for the Speaker of the House to handpick the committee and control the agenda?

Pure genius or evil? We are living in interesting times. God bless America.
