Your Opinion: Others taking credit for port idea

Velma Steinman

Jefferson City

Dear Editor:

So, Gov. Mike Parson released a parcel of land for the use of the new port.

My husband, Leonard Steinman II, suggested creating a port in Jefferson City in 1998 when we moved back to our hometown from Indiana. He made this suggestion to quite a few people such as Steven Rasmussen, city administrator of the City of Jefferson at the time. No one took what he had to say seriously. Now all of the sudden it is a big deal with others taking the credit for an idea that was not originally their own. Typical.

Is it so hard to give someone just a little bit of recognition that they deserve? Apparently, it is, if it takes the focus off those in authority or the big money people.

Really a shame!
