Your Opinion: Media complicit in hyping coronavirus

Dear Editor:

Why are we constantly bombarded with depressing news on the coronavirus? The June 28, 2020, News Tribune has used virtually the entire pages A4 and A5 devoted to coronavirus articles and the June 29, 2020, issue has six articles on three pages. There can be no rational reason except to make sure the panic continues through the constant drumbeat of fear-mongering. Now there are more idiot mayors and governors considering mandating the wearing of masks and a march to more lockdowns in many states.

What is so absurd is the national death rate has been falling since about May 1. The following website includes a graph of daily deaths and by extrapolation the trend is downward to the level of about 500 per day on June 28 from a high of about 2,000 per day on about April 15, 2020. (www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/coronavirus-deaths-united-states-each-day-2020-n1177936).

Why isn't this information driving the news headlines which would clearly prove the virus is weakening and/or is asymptomatic for those being tested? It should be more than obvious that the media exhibiting its usual bias as Democratic operatives will continue the fear-mongering in order to sabotage any economic recovery before the election! As long as we keep the testing statics driving the narrative, we will be wearing masks and closing up businesses until after the election then magically, I'm guessing, the pandemic will be over if Biden wins.

If the media is so concerned about saving lives, I wonder why it isn't concerned about vehicle fatalities which average about 1,000 per day? Re: (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motor_vehicle_fatality_rate_in_U.S._by_year). Why aren't the politicians demanding we curtail our driving to stop those deaths? It should be obvious, the Democrat Party and their media enablers couldn't care less about death and/or economic destruction to us citizens but rather keeping the panic alive for political gain!

The quote by Obama's advisor Rahm Emanuel: "Never allow a crisis to go to waste" is definitely in play here by the News Tribune and the media basket of bias! The other quote in play here is by Clinton's strategist James Carville in 1992: "It's the economy stupid." That's the reason the Democrats and the complicit media must stop Trump's economic boom and the virus is the perfect setup!

God Save America!
