Your Opinion: Initiative petition process is mob rule

Dear Editor:

The so-called Clean Missouri Amendment 1 was a Trojan horse that was nothing more than an attempt to gerrymander the districts in the state of Missouri. It did contain some shiny objects that made it appear to be a "good thing," but its intent was nothing more than to deceive the public, which it did, and effect the voting to the benefit of one party. Our system of drawing districts was not broken.

This was brought to us by the initiative petition. This process is nothing other than the worse kind of democracy and mob rule. The initiative petition should be struck from our Missouri Constitution. We are not a democracy at the state level, we are a representative Republic. Mob rule is what the petition is.

An amendment is being brought forth, by our elected representatives, Amendment 3, to correct this mob rule. It plainly spells out what needs to be corrected by the boondoggle given to us by the so-called Clean Missouri Amendment.

Respectfully, please be informed voters and not useful fools.
