Local churches and ministry partners are inviting you to the second Missouri Prayerfest on Saturday.

All are welcome to join the various churches, organizations and politicians to gather in public prayer. The Prayerfest is scheduled 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 2 at the Missouri state Capitol, featuring a prayer walk throughout the legislative halls at 10 a.m., a main prayer event at 11 a.m. on the South Lawn if weather permits or in the Capitol Rotunda in the event of bad weather, and a "Jericho March" at 1 p.m. around the Capitol grounds.

The main prayer event will cover 10 areas of prayer: marriage and family, religious liberty, fostering and adopting, law enforcement, sexual exploitation, business and farming, government, racial tensions, right to life and education, according to a news release from Prayerfest hosts Jerry and Kate Angelo, founders of Vanguard Marriage and Family Advocates.

"We are living in historic times with a tremendous need for prayer in our land," the news release states. "There has never been a more important time to pray for our leaders, our local communities, our state and our nation. Please join churches and leaders from across the state, along with your family and friends, at the Missouri State Capitol, to gather as God's people in public prayer."

Guest speakers will focus on 2 Chronicles 7:14 as it relates to praying for our local communities and state and national leadership.

Speakers and prayer leaders include Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft; state Sen. Rick Brattin, R-District 31; state Rep. Brian Seitz, R-District 156; state Rep. Mitch Boggs, R-District 157; Don Hinkle, Pathway magazine executive director; Jesse Leon Rodgers, City Elders president; Calvin Morrow, Christians United for Political Action executive director; Bev Ehlen, Concerned Women for America state director; Kathy Forck, 40 Days for Life pro-life activist; Rachel Blackmore, Churches for Life Outreach and Development director; Carol Fouse, Churches for Life Outreach and Development executive director; Mike McGee, Capital Prayer Tour missionary; Russ Tuttle, Stop Trafficking Project president and founder; Howard Boyd, Family Research Council of Missouri representative; and Alec Davis, musical artist.

Vanguard Marriage and Family Advocates is "a faith-based non-profit organization that partners with local community leaders and ministry partners to build strong marriage and family relationships," according to the news release.
