Lincoln University has hired Greenwood/Asher & Associates LLC to identify candidates in its search for a permanent president.

The search firm with 29 years of experience in executive searches, consulting and training will be tasked with identifying candidates from around the country for the university president and vice president of academic affairs and provost positions.

Greenwood/Asher was chosen out of three search firms the university was considering, winning the contract over Academic Search and AGB Search.

Lincoln also named Curator Everidge Cade as chairman of its Board of Curators Presidential Search Committee, which will hold its first meeting Sept. 30.

Lincoln University began searching for a president after former LU President Jerald Jones Woolfolk announced her resignation in May.

John Moseley, the university's former athletic director and head men's basketball coach, began serving as interim president the same month. Moseley has said he intends to be a candidate for the permanent position.

With offices in Missouri, Alabama, Florida, Maryland, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington, D.C., Greenwood/Asher will be conducting a nationwide search for candidates.

The company has almost 30 employees and has been hired by Missouri University of Science & Technology, University of Missouri-Kansas City and Webster University.

Among its top executive placements are Gregory Washington as president of George Mason University, Robert Jones as chancellor of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Kent Fuchs as president of University of Florida.

In addition to its presidential search, Lincoln University will use the search firm to identify candidates for the position of vice president of academic affairs and provost, a key administrative role overseeing the university's academic programming, institutional research and Academic Success Center.

The final hiring decision for both positions is left up to the Lincoln University Board of Curators.

According to a timeline laid out early in the process, the curators hope to have a small group of applicants available to interview by Nov. 1.
