Immaculate Conception of Loose Creek to celebrate 175 years

Immaculate Conception of Loose Creek will be hosting a daylong community event Oct. 9 to celebrate the church's 175th anniversary.

A parade will kick off the events festivities at 10:30 a.m. Live performances from the Osage Angels, the Osage Travelers and Point 08 are also planned. Other attractions will include a beer garden, museum, games, cloggers, cemetery tours and a presentation of Immaculate Conception's history by Gary Kremer.

According to the Diocese of Jefferson City website, Immaculate Conception of Loose Creek was founded by Father Ferdinand Helias in 1835. In 1868, construction of the present church building began and the structure was completed in 1877.
