Highway Patrol to offer community alliance program

The Missouri Highway Patrol troop that serves Central Missouri is offering residents the chance to learn what it’s like to serve on the patrol.

Members of the patrol’s Troop F will host a Community Alliance Program, which will begin Tuesday, Oct. 26, and will be held at several locations throughout the Jefferson City area. Participants will meet for five consecutive Tuesday nights.

The program offers an opportunity to meet and interact with troopers and civilian employees, with classroom and practical instruction, covering various topics including traffic stops, traffic crashes and criminal investigations, polygraph examinations, DWI enforcement and bomb squad equipment.

Participants will also get to ride along with a trooper. The program will culminate with an awards ceremony held at the patrol academy on East Elm Street.

The class will be limited to 20 people and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, following a criminal record check.

For more information about the program, contact Cpl. Kyle Green at 573- 751-1000, Ext. 3619. To apply, visit statepatrol.dps.mo.gov and click on the Services icon. After clicking on Services, click Community/Student Alliance under Program Information and the available programs page will open. Applications will be accepted until the class is filled.
