A Columbia man has pleaded guilty to amended charges in connection with a chase with Jefferson City police last December.
Jajuan Crockett, 19, pleaded guilty during a hearing before Cole Count Associate Circuit Judge Brian Stumpe to misdemeanor charges of second-degree tampering and resisting arrest.
Prosecutors amended the charges from felonies.
Crockett also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.
Crockett was placed on two years of unsupervised probation and ordered to pay a yet-to-be-determined amount of restitution. If he fails to meet his probation requirements, he faces 180 days in the Cole County Jail.
The Jefferson City 911 Center received a call reporting a stolen vehicle from Columbia was seen in the 500 block of Missouri Boulevard, according to Jefferson City Police Department reports. Officers responded to the area but initially were unable to locate the vehicle.
An officer later observed the stolen vehicle, which Crockett wad driving, on West Truman Boulevard. Officers attempted a traffic stop, and Crockett initially pulled into a parking lot but then fled eastbound.
The pursuit continued east on Truman Boulevard. Then officers deployed tire-deflation devices near North Ten Mile Drive. Although disabled, Crockett continued eastbound until he reached the 2600 block of Industrial Drive, where he stopped and was taken into custody.
