Crazy Fry’s hosting backpack drive

Staff at Crazy Fry’s, located at 1121 E. Miller St., are accepting backpacks, pencils, pens, colored pencils, highlighters, crayons, notebooks, folders, erasers and other school products through Friday. Items may be dropped off in a box in the restaurant.

Puma has donated 64 backpacks to the drive, according to Theo Okuribido, an owner of the restaurant. And, staff have set a goal of collecting and distributing 150 backpacks.

They plan to distribute backpacks filled with school products during an event at the restaurant noon-3 p.m. Saturday. The event will feature music and cool giveaways.

“We’re trying to make it a fun event for any grades — K through 12,” Okuribido said.

Restaurant hours are 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The restaurant will also accept donations for the backpacks via Venmo — a mobile payment service operated by PayPal.

“We’ll make sure everybody can see where their dollar went in terms of this backpack drive,” Okuribido said.
