Lincoln University will be hosting a "High School Day" designed to introduce area high school students to the university in the hopes they might consider becoming a Blue Tiger.

Students and their families attending the April 24 event will have the opportunity to learn about education, financial aid, campus life and other aspects of higher education.

Primarily focused on local counties within Missouri, LU clubs and organizations will be there to greet families to inform students of their services. Academic and ROTC scholarships will be available as well as scholarships for individuals involved in band and choir.

Students will have the ability to bring either their official or unofficial transcripts so the university will be able to accept them that day if they choose to do so, said Dr. Marcus A. Chanay, vice president of student affairs.

"We will be able to do acceptance on the spot," he said. "We know most high schools won't finish up until later part of May; however, that will then lead to us using official transcripts."

High School Day will be 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Linc, and students will be treated to a free concert by the Lincoln University Marching Band at the Dwight T. Reed Football Stadium.
