Motorcycle crash injures Jefferson City man

A Jefferson City man suffered critical injuries in a motorcycle crash early Monday evening.

According to a Jefferson City Police Department news release, 43-year-old Shane R. Steck was eastbound about 6:55 p.m. on a Yamaha V Star on U.S. 50 near the tri-level, when he ran off the left side of the road and struck the concrete divider.

The impact ejected Steck, who landed in the westbound lanes. Steck, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered critical injuries to his head and left arm. An ambulance took him from the scene to a waiting Staff for Life helicopter, which flew him to a hospital in Columbia for treatment.
