Rescheduled Calvary Lutheran auction moves online

Calvary Lutheran High School's annual Crimson and Silver Auction will be held virtually this year.

Auction items will be available to view at calvarylutheran.schoolauction.net/crimsonsilverauction from Nov. 1-14, but bidding will close at different times for different items, event chair Renee Duenckel said.

This auction is one of Calvary Lutheran High School's biggest fundraisers of the year. The money decreases tuition by going toward the overall cost of education such as giving students learning opportunities inside and outside of the classroom, Executive Director John Christman said.

"It goes to just support all Calvary students and helps to really meet the cost of education for all students," Christman said.

The auction, which usually includes a dinner with about 200 attendees, was originally planned for April 25, but it was rescheduled to September due to the COVID-19 pandemic. School leaders then decided to reschedule the event again and hold it online because they felt the risk was still too high to hold it in person, Christman said.

"We thought, if we moved it online, that would still give people equal access to the event, and we still would be able to accomplish our goals of raising money to help support the great things that go on here at Calvary and really to support students and help them reach their goals," he said.

Examples of items in the auction include Lake of the Ozarks and Branson vacation packages, a homemade quilt, a custom T-shirt quilt, a tailgate package with Kansas City Chiefs cornhole boards, a bronze sculpture made by a local artist, area golf course gift certificates, local gift cards, fireworks, wine and cheesecake.

The auction will also include an option to make a donation to the school, which will be open past Nov. 14, Duenckel said.

The event planning committee is seeking donations for items and gift cards to add to the auction. Donations can be made by Monday at calvarylutheran.schoolauction.net/crimsonsilverauction.
