Henley man charged with stealing

A Henley man has been charged with breaking into storage lockers at a Cole County business.

Beau Brinker, 39, is charged with stealing, second-degree tampering and second-degree property damage.

The incident occurred in February at H&H Storage on Scruggs Station Road, according to a Cole County Sheriff's Department probable cause statement.

The property owner had reviewed security camera footage and reportedly found Brinker had cut the locks off seven storage units.

Authorities said the security video shows a van drive onto the lot and the driver, reportedly Brinker, get out of the vehicle. Brinker then allegedly used a stick to push up a security camera so it would face away from the damaged units.

Authorities claim they were able to see Brinker in the reflection of the window of the van cutting the locks of the storage unit doors.

Investigators contacted four of the storage unit renters. Three said the locks of their units were cut off, but they couldn't find anything missing. The fourth renter reported several items had been taken.
