Members of the Cole Bicentennial Committee and local state lawmakers presented Gov. Mike Parson with a few gifts this week to mark the county's historic 200th birthday.

Committee Chairman Marc Ellinger and Cole County Presiding Commissioner Sam Bushman presented the governor with No. 57 of the Bicentennial Small Batch Bourbon on Thursday. The bourbon is made in Lohman by the Blacksmith Brewery.

They also gave Parson one of the 99.6 percent silver bicentennial commemorative coins that will be available to the public.

"We made only 200 of each, and since Gov. Parson is the 57th governor of Missouri, we reserved this number for him," Bushman said.

Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe; state Sen. Mike Bernskoetter, R-Jefferson City; state Rep. Dave Griffith, R-Jefferson City; and state Rep. Rudy Veit, R-Wardsville, also received a bicentennial commemorative coin.

Parson presented Cole County with a gubernatorial proclamation honoring the county's 200th birthday.

A kickoff for the bicentennial celebration will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lohman's Landing in Jefferson City.
