It's cold outside, so scores of people on Saturday enjoyed an indoor bounce house or inflatable obstacle course at Capital Mall.

Leapfrog Inflatable Rentals set up three large bounce houses and the Juggernaut - one of the largest inflatable obstacle courses in Mid-Missouri - in the center court of the mall for the holiday weekend. One of the bounce houses was only available for children ages 2-3.

One unit is designated for children 8 and younger.

Children through adults were challenged, during Leapfrog at Capital Mall MLK Weekend 2020, to take on the Juggernaut, which has two climbing walls and slides. (It's set up so competitors can race each other over identical courses.)

Inflatables are to remain in the mall through Monday.

People ages 4 and older pay $6 for one day of unlimited play. Family passes are available for $20. (Cash and credit are accepted.) Please bring socks.

Scores of people lined up for their chances to play in the inflatables late Saturday morning. Before entering the houses or the obstacle course, participants are warned of the rules - nobody runs, always slide feet-first, one at a time, and no pushing and shoving.

Jordan Stivers, of Brazito, recorded with her cellphone as her children Jack, 2, and Lilly, 5, climbed the wall in the Juggernaut.

She said her children were very excited for the activities.

Allison and Jacob Patrick arrived early and brought their three boys: Hudson, 8, Dawson, 5, and Carson 3.

Jacob Patrick said it's not the first time the boys have enjoyed an event like this at the mall.

"(Organizers) do this once or twice a year," he said. "The boys really do love it. It's not bad for a day's entertainment."

The Juggernaut was challenging, Hudson said.

"The climb was kind of hard. When you get to that big part that sticks out, it was hard," he continued. "I liked it. The big slide was really slick."

Kelly Schneider went to the mall on Saturday with her children - Nolan, 7, and Olivia, 2 - in tow, never anticipating they'd find the activity.

"I came into the mall to do some errands. This happened to be here," Schneider said. "Of course, the kids wanted to join the fun."
