Three arrested in multiple-county pursuit

Three individuals were taken into custody following a police pursuit Saturday in Jefferson City.

The Jefferson City Police Department received a call regarding a theft from Kohl's around 1:30 p.m. at 715 Stoneridge Parkway. The caller gave the department a vehicle description, license plate number and the car's direction, according to a Saturday news release.

Officers attempted to stop a vehicle matching the description traveling eastbound on Missouri Boulevard. The vehicle initially stopped in a parking lot but then sped away.

Officers pursued the vehicle down Missouri Boulevard, onto U.S. 54 and across the Missouri River Bridge.

The local police department ended its pursuit in Callaway County when the vehicle traveled northbound on U.S. 63 out of the city limits.

Authorities in Boone County located the vehicle shortly later, leading to a second pursuit. The vehicle occupants were arrested, and officers recovered about $300 worth of merchandise.

The 42-year-old driver, a Columbia resident, was arrested for stealing, resisting arrest and driving while revoked, the news release states. A passenger, a 25-year-old Columbia resident, was arrested for stealing.

The individuals were transported to the Cole County Jail to wait for the Cole County prosecutor to review the charges.

A third occupant remains in the Boone County authorities' custody for an unrelated warrant, the news release states.

There were no injuries or damage to other property during the pursuit, according to the news release.
