About 50-70 protesters entered the state Capitol today to continue their protest of Gov. Mike Parson's agenda for the special legislative session underway to address violent crime, especially violent crime in Missouri's largest cities.

In the early afternoon today, the group peacefully entered the Capitol and went to the state Senate chamber to watch debate on the crime legislation.

The group of protesters, which includes state Rep. Rasheen Aldridge of the St. Louis area, say the legislation being debated by legislators is only political rhetoric. They said more attention should be paid to improving low-income neighborhoods with legislation that would provide better schools and health care.

The group plans to come back next week as the Legislature continues the special session.
