Cole County Clerk Steve Korsmeyer reported there had been no problems at polling locations for the primary election as of late Tuesday morning.

"I'm keeping my prediction of a 35 percent turnout based on what I've seen and what our poll workers have told me," Korsmeyer said. "At the locations I've visited, there were no lines or back-ups, but people were coming through at what I'd consider a steady pace."

Those voting today must choose which political party's ballot they want to cast.

Voters should have an acceptable form of identification to aid in check-in at the poll.

Voters should make sure they have their correct, current address on their registration card, Korsmeyer noted.

As for precautions due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, tables at polling locations are positions so voters can maintain 6 feet of physical distance and hand sanitizer is available. Cole County voters are not required to wear a face mask but may choose to do so.

Polls are open until 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Cole County voters will elect two circuit judges, two county commissioners and a county assessor and choose a Republican nominee for associate circuit judge, as well as vote on the statewide Amendment 2 for Medicaid expansion and nominees for a number of statewide elected offices.
