Helias Catholic celebrates 'A Nautical Homecoming'

Helias Catholic High School celebrated Homecoming last week with a theme of "A Nautical Homecoming."

Holly Hentges was announced as Homecoming queen during an assembly Sept. 13 at the school.

Homecoming Week kicked off last Sunday with the powderpuff football and powerpuff volleyball games.

Dress-up days have included "Jungle Safari" on Tuesday, "Crazy Socks" on Wednesday and "East Coast/Preppy" on Thursday. Students wore Homecoming and Helias activity shirts Friday.

Students celebrated an all-school Mass on Wednesday morning.

Students decorated floats during the evenings all week preparing for Friday's parade through downtown Jefferson City, which was followed by fireworks.

The football game against Cardinal Ritter was played Saturday.

The Homecoming Dance is scheduled from 8-11 p.m. Sunday at Helias' auxiliary gym.

2019 Homecoming Court

Homecoming Queen Holly Hentges is the daughter of Chris and Jennifer Hentges and is a member of Immaculate Conception Parish.

Holly is a four-year member of the softball team, where she earned All-District and Academic All-State. She is also a member of the track and field team, where she was named the 2019 female track athlete of the year and Academic All-state.

She is a member of the French Club.

Her honors include National Honor Society, Student of the Month, A Honor Roll and French Honor Society.

Holly's assembly and dance escort is Jason Haselhorst, and her game escort is Jack Marberry.

Mya Bremer is the daughter of Steve and Joyce Bremer and is a member of St. Joseph Cathedral Parish.

Mya is a four-year member and captain of the cheer team and has also played tennis during her four years at Helias.

She is a member of the Yoga Club.

Mya volunteers her time at The Salvation Army and Great Circle and most recently volunteered helping tornado victims.

Mya's assembly, game and dance escort is Zach Paschal.

Megan Cooper is the daughter of Todd and Jennifer Cooper and is a member of St. Joseph Cathedral Parish.

Megan is a member of the Student Council, Library Squad, Founders Club, Disney Club and Club International. She was also a Frosh Camp leader.

Her honors include National Honor Society, Student of the Month and A Honor Roll. She received the State of Missouri Trust Award and the Ray and Mary Lou Bonnot Scholarship.

Megan volunteers her time at St. Mary's Hospital.

Megan's assembly and dance escort is Jake Warren, and her game escort is Gabe Borgmeyer.

Kenley Haslag is the daughter of Darrin and Angela Haslag and is a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish.

Kenley is a four-year member of the softball team, where she has earned All- District and Academic All-State honors. She is also a member of Students Against Destructive Decisions and the Medical Club, where she serves as president.

She serves Helias as a student ambassador and as a member of the Student Council.

Her honors include Student of the Month, Jayne Luebbering Memorial Award, National Honor Society and A Honor Roll.

Kenley's assembly, game and dance escort is Peyton Wright.

Paige Luebbering is the daughter of Jason and Jill Luebbering and is a member of St. Stanislaus Parish.

Paige is a four-year member of the softball team, where she earned Academic All- State.

She is also a member of the Founders Club and the Medical Club, where she serves as secretary.

Her honors include National Honor Society and A Honor Roll.

She volunteers her time with Operation Bugle Boy.

Paige's assembly, game and dance escort is Ben Rehagen.

Molly Bruns is the daughter of Terry and Connie Bruns and is a member of Immaculate Conception Parish.

Molly is a four-year member of the volleyball team, where she earned Academic All-State her junior year.

She serves Helias as a member of the Student Council, serving as secretary last year; student ambassador; and Frosh Camp leader.

Molly is a member of the National Honor Society has been on the A Honor Roll during her time at Helias. She was also the recipient of the Jay and Mary Lou Bonnot Scholarship.

She volunteers her time at the Samaritan Center.

Emily Harrison is the daughter of Brad and Tesa Harrison and is a member of St. Joseph Cathedral Parish.

Emily is a four-year member of the basketball and track and field teams. She was also a member of the softball team.

Emily is a member of Club International and the Yoga Club.

Her honors include All-District and All-State in track and field, Academic All-State, Honor Roll, 100 Service Hours Award, and Triple H Award.

She has served Helias as a Frosh Camp leader.

Lauren Howell is the daughter of Jay and Rachelle Howell and is a member of St. Stanislaus Parish.

Lauren is a four-year member of the softball team, where she has earned All-District, All-Region and All-State honors. She is also a member of Club International and was a Frosh Camp leader this year.

Her honors include National Honor Society, A Honor Roll and Academic All-State in softball.

Lauren's assembly, game and dance escort is Marcus Anthony.

Emilee Nappier is the daughter of John and Lori Nappier and is a member of St. Peter Parish.

Emilee is a four-year member of the soccer team. She has also participated in basketball.

Emilee is a member of the Young Republicans Club and has been on the Honor Roll.

She has served Helias as a member of the Student Council and is the Student Council president this year.

She volunteers her time at Special Olympics and Relay for Life.

Esther Tharp is the daughter of James and Melodie Tharp and is a member of St. Martin Parish.

Esther is a four-year member of the volleyball team, where she earned Academic All-State her junior year.

She is a member of the Founders Club and was a Frosh Camp leader this year.

Esther's honors include National Honor Society and A Honor Roll.

Morgan Yanskey is the daughter of Kevin and Christy Yanskey and is a member of Immaculate Conception Parish.

Morgan has participated in soccer, cross country, basketball and track during her time at Helias.

She is involved in Life Runners and Founders Club and was a Frosh Camp leader.

Her honors include National Honor Society, Triple H Award, Academic All-State in cross country and A Honor Roll, and she received the Ray and Mary Lou Bonnot Scholarship.

She volunteers her time at Capital Region Medical Center and Immaculate Conception Parish.
