Iberia man charged for running from police

An Iberia man has been charged with running from authorities who were conducting a narcotics investigation in Jefferson City in July.

James Morris, 40, is charged with one count of resisting arrest.

Members of the Jefferson City Police Department's Community Action Team were conducting surveillance July 25 on a residence in the 1600 block of Thompson Street in regards to multiple complaints of narcotic activity, according to a JCPD probable cause statement.

An officer watching from a covert car saw a vehicle driven by Morris arrive at the residence, stay briefly then leave.

Authorities followed the vehicle onto Stadium Boulevard and eventually got into a chase with Morris, with speeds reaching 95 mph as they went out to Old Bass Road in Cole County.
