Jefferson City police are investigating an apparent homicide that occurred early Thursday morning.
Officers were called to the 1900 block of Rolling Hills Road around 3:19 a.m. after the 911 Center received several reports of gunshots heard in the area, according to police reports.
Prior to officers' arrival, 911 operators received a call that a person was suffering from a gunshot wound, and this person was eventually pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives are investigating leads in the case.
The victim's name is not being released pending notification of the family.
