Father Tolton president resigns

Less than two months after assuming responsibilities as president of Fr. Augustine Tolton Regional Catholic High School in Columbia, Doug Callahan has resigned.

Bishop W. Shawn McKnight of the Catholic Diocese of Jefferson City announced the departure in a news release Friday morning.

When Callahan took the position Sept. 1, he said he’d be responsible for fundraising, marketing, fiscal management and spiritual leadership.

His departure was effective Oct. 24.

Jill McIntosh, the school’s vice president, will assume duties of presidency during the search for a new president.

Gwenn Roche continues as principal of the school.

The news release said the departure is a personnel matter, and the diocese will provide no further information regarding his departure.

The diocese has begun discussions with professional educational consultants to prepare for the transition to a new president.
