Spooky festivities abound in Mid-Missouri

The fall weather has arrived and with it comes all things Halloween. Check out our list of fall festivals and Halloween events throughout Mid-Missouri, with plenty to keep you busy through Halloween night.

TODAY

Nightmares on High Street in the MRRL Park, 7-8 p.m., Missouri River Regional Library, 214 Adams St. Exchange scary stories while making s'mores over a fire pit in the library park on High Street.

Shattered Screams Haunted House, 7-10 p.m., today and Sunday, and Oct. 24 and 27-31; 7-11 p.m., Friday-Saturday, Oct. 25-26, Nov. 1-2, Capital Mall, 3600 Country Club Drive. This highly detailed attraction includes animated creatures and theatrical actors. Be warned: this is rated PG-13 and includes "realistic gore and violence, harsh language, strobe lights and loud noises," according to the attraction's website. General admission tickets are $23. SATURDAY

Family Fall Festival, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, Hy-Vee, 3721 W. Truman Blvd. Head to the Hy-Vee parking lot for pumpkin painting, ring toss, music, a hay bales maze for children ages 3 and under and a bubble machine. The festival will also include chili, caramel apples, apple cider and more.

Halloween Spooktacular and Trunk-Or-Treat, 1 p.m., Tri-County YMCA Preschool & Childcare, Osage Beach. Check out this event for food, games, a coloring contest, mighty machines and spooky fun. Admission is $2 per child.

Witches N'Wine, 5 p.m., Saturday, Shawnee Bluff Vineyard, Eldon.

4th annual Spooktacular, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Westphalia Trading Co., Westphalia. Enjoy costumes, a zoo, corn maze, wagon rides, games, temporary tattoos, trick-or-treating, a bounce house, face painting and more. Admission is $8 at the gate. Children ages 2 and younger are admitted free.

In the Park After Dark: "Hocus Pocus," 5:30 p.m., Saturday, Ellis-Porter Riverside Amphitheater, 300 Ellis Porter Drive. Watch the classic family Halloween film, presented by Capitol City Cinema and the Jefferson City Parks and Recreation Department. Tickets are $5 per person.

TEAL Trail of Treats, 5:30-7 p.m., Saturday, Hibernia Station Park, Holts Summit. An interactive version of the traditional trunk-or-treat, this trail includes activity stations along a one-mile lighted pathway. At the end of the journey, a bounce house and food from Mule's Smoke Shack will be available. Admission is $2.

Second BYOP Spooktacular Craft and Pizza Night, 6-9 p.m., Saturday, Express Yourself, Fulton. Enjoy a night of crafts and pizza for $15 per person. Each person will get three crafts, including a magnet mummy pumpkin, a DIY candy tote bag and the materials to decorate your own pumpkin (pumpkin not included in materials), along with two slices of pizza and a drink.

Trunk or Treat for Shop with a Hero, 6-8 p.m., Saturday, Fulton Jaycees Callaway County Fairgrounds, Fulton. The Fulton Jaycees and Fulton Police Department are teaming up again for this annual event that raises money for Shop With a Hero, which gives under-privileged children in Callaway Country the chance to purchase Christmas gifts with a police officer. Admission is $1 or a donation.

Teen After-Hours: Halloween Edition, 6-9 p.m., Missouri River Regional Library, 214 Adams St. This Halloween-themed Teen After-Hours will include treats and costumes. Registration is required to attend.

SUNDAY

St. Martin Parish School Goblin 5K, 2-4:30 p.m., St. Martin Parish School, 7206 St. Martin Blvd. This family fun-focused event includes the 5K race or walk starting at St. Martin's Parish School and a Halloween costume contest. Adult admission is $20, children ages 18 and younger for $10 and a family admission is available for $50.

Fall Festival, 5-7 p.m., Calvary Baptist Church, 1436 Hough St. Enjoy an evening of food and fellowship, along with crafts, games and a bounce house.

TUESDAY

Fall Festival, 6:30-7:30 p.m., Capital City Christian Church, 1608 Swifts Highway. Hosted by Capital City Christian Church and Child Care Center, this event includes carnival games and a magic show featuring Gerry Tritz.

OCT. 24

Thursday Night Live: Zombie Night Live, 7-10 p.m., downtown Jefferson City. Returning to the Thursday Night Live stage is ChristiAna as the street fills with zombies ready for a night of music and Halloween decor. Admission is $5 for all ages 13 and older and $2 for those ages 4-12. Prices include wristband and beverage cup for those age 21 and older.

OCT. 25

HolyWeen 2019, 6-8:30 p.m., Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1529 Southwest Blvd. Enjoy Bible stories, music, crafts, games and a meal as this event combines the Halloween spirit with a Christian message.

SERVE Halloween Charity Ball, 8 p.m.-midnight, Brick District Playhouse, Fulton. Celebrate Halloween while supporting SERVE, Inc., which provides food, clothing, transportation, medications, utility assistance and more to families in Callaway County. This event will include dancing, costume contests, refreshments, beer and hors d'ouerves. Tickets are $55 per person.

Field of Screams Haunted Trail, 8-11:45 p.m., Oct. 25-26, Field of Screams, Taos. This half-mile haunted trail is designed to frighten patrons at $10 per person (cash only). Proceeds go to Taos Countryside Park Field. This trail is not recommended for anyone younger than age 10.

OCT. 26

The Haunted Hustle, 8-11 a.m., North Jefferson City Recreation Area, 927 Fourth St. Get in costume for this first-ever event that features a family-oriented 5K with refreshments before, during and after the race. Hosted by The Sneaker Project.

YMCA Fall Festival and Monster Dash 5K, 9 a.m.-11:30 p.m., YMCA of Callaway County, Fulton. This festival will include plenty of family-friendly activities, including pumpkin decorating, face painting and a bounce house. The race begins at 10 a.m. The festival is free to attend, but the race does have an additional fee.

Waiting on the Great Pumpkin Festival, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Court Street, Fulton. Head over to Court Street where shops will be open, a bounce house will be set up and resale costume shopping will be offered. A caramel apple bar and lots of games are also on tap as attendees will be encouraged to believe hard enough to bring the Great Pumpkin to fruition.

Fun-tastic Saturday: Pumpkin Party in Linn, 10 a.m.-noon, Osage County Library, Linn. Pumpkin-themed stories will be read aloud and hands-on activities will be offered to children of preschool and elementary ages at this Halloween-themed event.

High Street Tick-Or-Treat, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., High Street. Put on your costume and stroll down High Street to trick-or-treat from local businesses all the way from the Capitol to the county courthouse.

Trunk or Treat Haunted House Cancer Fundraiser, noon-10 p.m., O.C. Railroad, 5018 Elston Road. Trains will be running from noon to 4 p.m. and a flash mob may even make an appearance before 5 p.m. At 5 p.m., gates will open with trunks staying open until 8 p.m. As the event ends at 10 p.m., fireworks will go off for about five to 10 minutes. Costumes are encouraged, though the event specifies that there will be no clowns.

Fall Festival, 1-4 p.m., Faith Baptist Church, Holts Summit. This free fall festival will include bounce houses, lots of games and tons of prices, as well as hot dogs and sodas.

Safe Trick or Treat at Heisinger Bluffs, 1:30-3 p.m., Heisinger Bluffs, 1002 W. Main St. Explore both buildings at Heisinger Bluffs while searching for treats and goodies in full costume.

Jefferson City Jaycees 11th annual Trunk or Treat, 2-5 p.m., Jefferson City Jaycees Fairgrounds, 1445 Fairgrounds Road. Bring the children for an afternoon of games, activities and goodies, with all proceeds going to benefit Operation T.O.Y.S.

BYO Pumpkin Carving Party, 2-5 p.m., Fulton Splash Pad, Fulton. Bring your own pumpkin and enjoy the fall atmosphere with hot chocolate, s'mores and pumpkin pie. Pets are welcome and Halloween costumes are encouraged.

Trunk or Treat, 2 p.m., Trinity Lutheran Church & School, 803 Swifts Highway.

New Bloomfield Trunk or Treat, 3-5 p.m., New Bloomfield High School, New Bloomfield. Get into costume and collect your treats just before the Halloween showing of "Hocus Pocus," which will immediately follow the event.

Fall Festival, 4-7 p.m., Jamestown Assembly of God Church, Jamestown. This festival will include a bounce house, games, prizes, treats and hayrides.

Trick or Treat on Oak Street, 6-8 p.m., Oak Street, California. Now in its second year, this event brings local businesses in California together for games and treats. The street will be lined with lit jack-o-lanterns that have been carved by local participants and people will be able to vote for their favorite.

OCT. 27

Howloween Trick & Treat Spooktacular, noon, Stephens Lake Park, Columbia. This family and dog-friendly event will include adoptable pets, a trick-or-treat path for both children and dogs, photo booth, face painting, bounce house, food trucks, vendors and plenty of goods to be raffled off. Beginning at 3 p.m., there will be a free costume contest, with categories for children, dogs and adults. The event is free, but the trick-or-treat path and other activities require tickets.

Symphony Spooktacular, 4-6 p.m., Oct. 27 and 6:30-8:30 p.m., Oct. 29, Lincoln University, Mitchell Auditorium, 706 E. Dunklin. Join the Jefferson City Symphony Orchestra as they get you into the spooky mood with their Halloween selections. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students.

Trunk or Treat, 5-7 p.m., Grace Lutheran Church, Holts Summit. It's the seventh annual event that features family fun, games, walking tacos, popcorn and candy.

Halloween Trail at the YMCA, 6-7:30 p.m., Firley YMCA, 525 Ellis Blvd. Come decked out in your Halloween gear for some not-so-spooky fun for all. This free event includes trick-or-treating, fitness challenges for children, a bounce house and more.

OCT. 28

CHCCMO Trick or Treat Event, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Community Health Center of Central Missouri, 1511 Christy Drive. There will be games and prizes, as well trick-or-treating at this free event for all.

Family Howlin' Halloween Party, 6:30-7:30 p.m., Missouri River Regional Library, 214 Adams St. Get in costume and head to the library for some Halloween-themed carnival games, a costume parade, BOOk bingo and snacks.

An Evening with Spirits, 6:30 p.m., The Blue Note, Columbia. Medium Britney Buckwalter will perform a platform mediumship demonstration in front of a live audience. Tickets are $20.

OCT. 30

Family Halloween Story Time, 10:30-11:30 a.m., Missouri River Regional Library, 214 Adams St. Enjoy not-so-scary stories, howl songs and a costume parade at this themed Story Time event.

Light the Night, 6-8 p.m., Concord Baptist Church, 3724 W. Truman Blvd. This free event includes a trunk-or-treat, inflatables and games.

Halloween Brew 'n View: 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show', 8 p.m., The Blue Note, Columbia. The show starts at 9 p.m. and costumes are encouraged for this Halloween screening of a cult classic. Tickets are $10.

OCT. 31

Trick or Treat @ the Linn Library, 9 a.m.-7 p.m., Osage County Library, Linn. Head to the library in Linn and trick-or-treat for a free book and treats. There will also be a photo opportunity with a backdrop on display.

Trunk or Treat, 4-6 p.m., Faith Lutheran Church, 2027 Industrial Drive.

Halloween Walk, 4 p.m., Oct. 31, Hy-Vee, Columbia.

Trunk or Treat, 5 p.m., Ice Cream 4 Ice Cream LLC, Eugene. This event will include an outside Halloween movie, costume contest, ice cream chili dog, hot chocolate and hot apple cider. This will also kickoff a weekend of Halloween movies at the shop.

Trunk-or-Treat, 5-7 p.m., Southside Baptist Church, Fulton.

Trick-or-Treating at the People's House, 5:30-7 p.m., Missouri Governor's Mansion, 100 Madison St. Put on your costumes and get your photo taken with the governor and first lady while getting treat bag.
