BizBeat: J Street Vintage reopens under new ownership

After 25 years under the ownership of Joe and Becky Bocklage, J Street Vintage is open under new ownership.

Lizzie Harlan has been a vendor at the vintage store for a couple of years, selling products from her business Born Again Living.

When J Street Vintage was up for sale, she bought it from the Bocklages and decided to renovate the space.

The fully renovated store celebrated its grand reopening Saturday in Jefferson City during Old Munichburg's Oktoberfest.

Along with continuing to offer vendor booth spaces, J Street will now sell chalk paint and offer painting classes.

Another upcoming new event is a Young Entrepreneur Day, where children and teenagers will be able to set up booth and sell their wares for a few hours. The first one is Oct. 12, and in the future, they will be each first Saturday of the month.

The store will also continue to partner with the Southside Market, which takes place each fourth Saturday from April to September.

Other new events will be promoted to the store's Facebook page.

Although Harlan owns it now, the Bocklages are staying involved in the business.

"We were all so close, all of us vendors," Harlan said. "The old owners actually stayed on as a vendor; that's how close we all are. So it's like we kept it in our little junky family."

J Street Vintage, at 615 Jefferson St. in Jefferson City, is open from 8 a.m.-noon Wednesdays and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays.
