Prep Baseball: Southern Boone 11, Centralia 1

ASHLAND -- The Southern Boone Eagles remained unbeaten Thursday with an 11-1 victory against the Centralia Panthers.

Ryker Zimmerman opened the scoring for the Eagles with an RBI triple in the bottom of the first inning. Southern Boone added three more runs in the third, plating two on an error and the other on a passed ball.

The Eagles blew the game open with a six-run fourth, highlighted by a two-run home run by Blaine Hargis.

Centralia scored its lone run in the top of the fifth, but Southern Boone completed the run-rule victory with a sacrifice fly hit by Jace Reynolds in the bottom half.

Jackson Woodard pitched the first four innings and recorded the win on the mound, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out seven.

Zimmerman led the way at the plate with a 2-for-4 performance with two runs scored and an RBI, while Reynolds and Hargis each had two RBI.

The Eagles, ranked No. 7 in Class 4 in the initial Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association rankings, will be back in action with a doubleheader today. Southern Boone (7-0) will play Fort Zumwalt East at noon and Montgomery County at 4 p.m. Both games are scheduled to be played at Southern Boone High School.
