EUGENE -- The California Pintos cruised to a team championship Wednesday, shooting a 290 in the Russellville Tournament at Redfield Golf Course.
Eugene took second place with a 329, followed by Linn with a 35. Tipton and Fatima tied for fourth place with a 360.
All five California golfers finished in the top 20 out of 88 individuals. Will Boyd was the individual champion, shooting a 5-under 67 to lead the Pintos.
California’s Ayden Howard tied Linn’s Jett Maasen for second place with a 1-under 71. Hallsville’s Cameron Cox placed fourth with a 73 and California’s Jackson Hackett tied Linn’s Britt Winslow for fifth place with a 75.
Boden Wassar rounded out California’s team score, tying Eugene’s Ethan Wunderlich for seventh place with a 77. California’s fifth golfer was Kaiden Ingram, who tied for 14th place with an 84.
Tipton was led by Ben Bestgen, who finished ninth with a 78. Nick Wolf tied for 20th place with an 87.
Calvary Lutheran took 16th place in the team standings with a 472. Micah Christman led the Lions with an 80, tying New Bloomfield’s Travis Allen and Eugene’s Justice Allen for 10th place. New Bloomfield placed 11th in the team standings with a 386.
California’s JV team took eighth place out of 17 teams with a 375. Heston Gatlin led the Pintos with an 84, tying for 17th place.
Iberia took seventh place with a 368, led by Isaac Parker’s 85 to finish 16th.
Rounding out Eugene’s team score were Cole Ousley and Colby Renn, who each shot an 86 to tie for 17th place.
Versailles shot a 382 to take 10th place as a team. Zack Cooper led the Tigers with an 87, tying for 20th place.
Fatima’s top golfer was Conner Bax, who placed 23rd with an 89.
