Arraignment set in Cole County drug case

An arraignment is scheduled next month in Cole County for a Jamestown woman arrested for drug charges late last year.

Rilie Gerloff was charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia in December. Her arraignment is set for April 15.

According to a Cole County Sheriff's Department probable cause statement, deputies conducted a traffic stop Dec. 13 on a vehicle Gerloff was a passenger in. The statement said deputies were responding to a call about suspicious activity and saw the car turn from private property onto a public road.

Deputies contacted the driver and two passengers, one of whom was Gerloff. When asked about the odor of marijuana in the car, Gerloff, who is under the legal age of 21 and does not have a medicinal use card, said she had marijuana in the center console of the car.

Authorities reportedly discovered a black bag containing a white crystalline substance on the driver's seat and a bag with marijuana in the console. They also discovered a mirror with white residue on it, another bag of marijuana and a glass smoking device with white residue.

Gerloff reportedly admitted the suspected methamphetamine and smoking device were hers.
