Lincoln athletic director Kevin Wilson announced Monday in a post on twitter.com that he is stepping down at the end of this month.

Wilson, who has been leading the athletic department at Lincoln for the past three years, is moving on to Benedict College (S.C.), where he will serve as a tenure track assistant professor.

“Thank you to Dr. John Moseley for allowing me to do something many minority leaders aspire to do,” Wilson said in his post. “Every day wasn’t perfect, but I am confident that the wins outweighed the lessons.”

In Wilson’s three years at Lincoln, the Blue Tigers announced they will be moving from the MIAA to the Great Lakes Valley Conference, a move that will take place beginning next school year.

Wilson also was involved in the decision to bring back baseball and men’s soccer to the university, along with the addition of women’s soccer.

Wilson was involved with the hiring of a number of coaches during his tenure: Jermaine Gales (football), Jimmy Drew (basketball), Sammy Samuels (men’s soccer), Grant Reynolds (baseball), Leah Stringer (women’s soccer) and Moses Harper (football).

“While it is hard to see a member of our university family move on, we are excited for Dr. Wilson and his family for their new opportunity,” Lincoln acting president Dr. Stevie Lawrence said. “We will spend the next several weeks working with him to finalize or evaluate the progress of any projects on which he currently working. Dr. Wilson has surrounded himself with strong coaches and experienced support staff, so our student-athletes and fiscal resources will remain in good hands.”
