Lincoln men's golf wraps up regular season at MIAA Championships

KANSAS CITY -- The Lincoln men’s golf team finished in a tie for ninth place out of 10 teams in the three-day MIAA Championships that concluded Wednesday at Shoal Creek Golf Club.

The Blue Tigers shot a three-round total of 648 (80 over) as a team to tie with Newman.

Central Missouri won team honors with a 26-over 594, Missouri Southern was next at 33-over 601 and Rogers State took third with a 38-over 606.

Austin Shoemaker was the top finisher for Lincoln, shooting a 76 in the first round, and 83 in the second and a 74 in the final round to tie for 31st.

Blake Meredith, a Capital City graduate, tied for 40th with a three-day total of 237 (79-82-76).

Henry Mwanza tied for 43rd with a 27-over 240 (78, 88, 74), Remon Rabie shot a 28-over 241 (75-85-81) to finish 45th and Nico Cardona rounded out Lincoln’s competitors but did not qualify for individual standings after only playing two rounds. Cardona shot a 28-over 170 in his two rounds.

Lius Limon won individual honors for Missouri Southern by shooting a 4-over 217.

Central Missouri's Alex Gentry, a Helias graduate, finished in a tie for 24th place in the 50-player field with a 17-over 230.

Lincoln will finish its season May 6-8 at the PGA Works Championship at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
