Residents practice paddling on Binder Lake

Participants in the event got to learn about the techniques and equipment needed to safely kayak in Missouri before having the opportunity to paddle out on the water themselves.

Local residents traveled the winding, sun-dappled road along Binder Lake's shores to learn how to kayak Friday.

On a quiet scrap of sand next to a small dock and boat ramp, naturalists from Runge Nature Center taught 10 local Missourians the basics of kayaking.
