The letter carriers' annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive takes place Saturday.
Area residents may have received in their mailboxes this week blue plastic bags in which they can place donated food products that are to be distributed to local food banks and pantries.
Residents are asked to leave the bags containing food items at their mailboxes Saturday.
Requested products include dry pasta, cereal and oatmeal, canola oil, peanut butter and canned foods. Requested canned foods include beans, fruit, vegetables, soups, tuna in water, meat and sauces. Please avoid glass containers.
The annual event is the nation's largest all-volunteer, one-day food collection effort. It is held the second Saturday of May each year.
