JC man charged with attempted drug distribution

A Jefferson City man faces a felony drug charge after being arrested last month.

Johnathan Riesenbeck, 43, was charged with attempted distribution of a controlled substance in a protected location.

Jefferson City police contacted Riesenbeck at his residence, which is public housing on Jackson Street, on the evening of Feb. 13 in an attempt to locate a missing juvenile, according to a probable cause statement. Riesenbeck allowed police to search the residence, where they reportedly observed two baggies containing suspected methamphetamine and a ceramic tile with five lines of residue on top.

They allegedly found more suspected drugs throughout the residence, including within the couch and inside a Crown Royal bag. He was arrested and a tube containing more suspected meth was taken from his person.

He allegedly denied being a meth user, stating he only smokes marijuana, and admitted to owning a digital scale and containers found on the scene.

In all, 10 grams of meth packaged for sale were reportedly found on the premises.
