A man was found dead Tuesday morning near the railroad tracks in the Riverview Drive and Wind River Drive area.
A Jefferson City Police Department news release said dispatch received a call around 8 a.m. Tuesday that someone had been hit by a train.
Officers responded to the area and found the deceased man. Rail traffic was reportedly restricted for around two hours while the scene was under investigation.
The area where the man was found is not one "frequented by pedestrians," the release said.
The man's identity has not been determined, and no other information on the death will be released, according to the release.
The news release does not state the nature of the death.
