Patrons of the Firley YMCA will have to bring or buy their own water this weekend when working out. The Firley YMCA announced Friday its water fountains are closed in response to a boil water advisory from Missouri American Water. Shelly Poire with the YMCA said Missouri American Water told the organization the boil water advisory is expected to last 48 hours. That means the fountains will be available again after 8 a.m. Sunday. The boil advisory goes beyond the YMCA. The advisory was issued in response to a water main break in the Southwest Boulevard area. The area encompassed by the advisory stretches from north of Stadium Boulevard to the southern edge of Hough Park, and from west of Southwest Boulevard to Aurora Park. Missouri American Water advises residents to boil drinking/cooking water for three minutes at a rolling boil. Water for non-consumable uses, such as bathing or washing, is safe, the company said.
