Girls Basketball: New Bloomfield 46, Paris 28

STURGEON -- The New Bloomfield Lady Wildcats posted a 2-1 record last week in the Sturgeon Tournament, finishing with a 46-28 win Saturday against the Paris Lady Wildcats in the fifth-place game.

Ashlyn Peters led New Bloomfield with a game-high 27 points, making six 3-pointers. She accounted for 21 of the Lady Wildcats’ 31 second-half points.

New Bloomfield, the No. 5 seed, led 7-4 after one quarter and 15-8 at halftime. 

The Lady Wildcats used a 14-0 run in the third quarter -- capped by three consecutive 3s from Peters -- to extend their lead to 36-17 by the start of the fourth quarter.

Reese Sutton scored a team-high 10 points for seventh-seeded Paris (5-14).

New Bloomfield (5-14) returns to Show-Me Conference play today at South Callaway.
