William Woods University's Mainstage Season Series will finish this week with the final production of the academic year.

"The Sweet Delilah Swim Club" is the final production for this year. The play is presented by WWU's drama department.

The opening performance will be at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 20. Performances will continue until April 22. All performances will be at 7:30 p.m., and a matinee performance will be performed at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 22.

All performances will be at the Dulany Auditorium on WWU's Fulton campus.

The show is about "five Southern women, whose friendships began many years ago on their college swim team, who set aside a long weekend each August to meet and recharge those friendships," a release states. The play spans a period of 33 years.

Joe Potter, artistic director of the WWU Theatre Department, said the production will make you laugh and also tug at your heart.

"The Sweet Delilah Swim Club is a delightful story about the enduring quality of lifetime friendships, which is especially timely as we get ready for our commencement season and college friends heading out into the world and new lives," Potter said in a release.

The 2022-2023 Mainstage Season Series began in Oct. with "45 Plays for 45 Presidents," which featured short stories about the U.S. Presidents.

In December, the department performed "Silent Sky." This play told the true story of Henrietta Leavitt.

The last performance in February was "These Shining Lives," which told the story of four women in the late 1920's.

Tickets for "The Sweet Delilah Swim Club" are $8, and can be purchased online at showtix4u.com. All seating is general admission.

Tickets must be purchased in advance, and will not be sold at the door.
