Judge orders property in Russellville to be cleaned

A Cole County judge has deemed a property in Russellville a nuisance and the city can come and clean it up.

According to online court records, Judge Dan Green ordered Luke Jerozal will have to pay the costs for the cleanup as well as $352 in attorney's fees the city incurred for taking this case to court.

The property is located in the 13000 block of Jefferson Street.

In the lawsuit against Jerozal, the city said there were numerous items classified as junk under city code on the property. The items include lumber, abandoned equipment such as freezers or stoves, containers, bottles and rubbish.

Notices were sent to the property owner, and they were instructed to clean up the properties by Nov. 1. Jerozal failed to take any action to clean up the property.

In another Russellville abatement case, court records show a suit filed by the city in April against Michael and Amy Miller for property in the 12500 block of County Line Road was dismissed. There were no details as to why the suit was dismissed.
