Blair Oaks takes over top spot in Class 2 state football rankings

There’s a new No. 1 in Class 2.

The Blair Oaks Falcons (4-0) moved up to the top spot in the Missouri Media Rankings released Monday night.

Blair Oaks received all 10 first-place votes in the voting by media members from around the state.

Lamar, the previous No. 1, lost 36-33 to Seneca last Friday night and fell to No. 4 in the rankings. Seneca and Lafayette County are tied for second.

The Helias Crusaders dropped from No. 6 to No. 9 in the Class 5 rankings after falling 40-14 last Friday night to Cardinal Ritter at the Crusader Athletic Complex. Cardinal Ritter is the new No. 1 team in Class 3.

St. Mary’s: St. Louis is the other unanimous No. 1 team, staying atop the Class 4 rankings.

Three teams are receiving first-place votes in Class 6. Liberty North got seven first-place votes to top the rankings, while No. 2 C.B.C. got two first-place votes. Nixa, ranked No. 4 behind Lee’s Summit North, received the other first-place vote.

In Class 5, Carthage received nine first-place votes. Francis Howell, ranked second, received the other.

Cardinal Ritter got eight first-place votes in Class 3, while previous No. 1 Lutheran: St. Charles fell to No. 3 with two first-place votes after falling to St. Mary’s. St. Pius X: Kansas City is ranked No. 2.

Monroe City got six first-place votes to lead the Class 1 rankings. East Buchanan is second with the other four first-place nods.
