Church to host climate change event

Immaculate Conception Catholic Church will host a special presentation called "Season of Hope: Responding in Faith to a Warming World."

The event is focused on the hopeful response by faith communities to climate change. It will take place 6-8:45 p.m. Oct. 20 at Pleus Hall, 1206 E. McCarty St. in Jefferson City.

Speakers are to include Father Mathew Flatley, pastor at the church, who will discuss the spirituality of care for creation; Roger Bergman, Mizzou Academy of Science specialist, who will discuss a climate mitigation model; and Bill Yarbrough, spiritual director and former missionary, who will discuss work with the poor and how climate change affects vulnerable populations.
